Hertfordshire Constabulary has a number for all non-emergency calls: -
Telephone 101
or
Telephone 01707 354000
Write it down, programme it into your mobile phone, keep it handy.
When you call, you will hear a short crime prevention message before being put through.
Use the non-emergency number:
to speak to a police officer or member of police staff
for a general police enquiry, advice and information
to report an incident or a crime that has happened (not an incident or crime in progress as this should be a Telephone 999 call)
You can still use direct line numbers to speak to someone whose number you know.
In an emergency always dial Telephone 999
An emergency is when:
There is a risk of injury to someone or a risk of serious damage to property
You suspect a crime is in progress
There is a serious incident which needs immediate police attendance
